Maus are celebrating they're ten years of releasing music by releasing a compilation album. Its a double cd called Tónlyst 1994 - 2004 / Lystaukar 1993 - 2004. Maus won the battle of the bands in 1994, when members where just 18 years old, and released they're first album later that year. Since then four albums have followed and countless radio singles. Most of them being on cd1 on the new compilation. The songs appear in chronological order on the cd, finishing with a brand new track called Over me, under me. The second cd is an album of rarities and unreleashed songs. It features 10 demo's of scrapped songs that became a part of the live set at some time, but never made it to the albums. It also has four live recordings, including the battle of the bands recordings from 1994, and remixes from Gusgus, Quarashi, Dáđadrengir and deLpHi. The latter one, Liquid Substance, is a remix of Replacing my Bones that was released as a single in Iceland last summer. The video is available here, on this site. May 2004 PLACEBO SUPPORTING SLOT Maus will be supporting Placebo in Reykjavík on the 7th of july. Maus will be the only band before the british rockers climb on stage and will get a slot of 45 minutes. This is Placebo's first gig in Iceland. Maus will use the oppurtunity to play some new material. Schedualed for Maus is a compilation album release in Iceland in the fall, where all the radio singles from the 10 years of Maus career will be put together on one cd. Two new songs will fill the void. An extra CD will feature previously unreleased material. Remixes, unreleased demo's and live performance's. May 2004 NEW VIDEO Maus are making a new stop motion video to a new version of Replacing my bones from Musick. The new version of the song is called Liquid Substance and is in fact a remix made by Delphi, and very different from the album version. Because of the nature of the video it has taken about 2 months to produce and the result should be brilliant. Watch this space, the video is coming here soon! January 2004 MAUS SUPPORTING THE RASMUS Maus will be supporting the Finnish band The Rasmus on a showcase gig in Reykjavik on the 6th of febuary. The Rasmus are signed with Playground Records in Scandinavia and MTV viewers in Europe should know this band by now as they're two singles, In the Shadow and First Day of My Life have had plenty airplay. The gig will take place at Gaukur á Stöng. January 2004 HAPPY NEW YEAR !! 2003 was a good year for Maus. Our album, Musick, sold more than any other alternative rock album here in Iceland. Our songs Life in a Fishbowl, Musick and My Favourite Excuse got good airplay and made it to the top 100 most played songs list on the radio stations. We also got 2 nominations to the Icelandic Music Awards, for best album and best video (My Favourite Excuse). For this we would like to thank everyone involved for making this a great year. May the next one be even better! |
